I watched 1966 Russian production. I found it moving and romantic. However I prefer this BBC production. It approached Tolstoy with internal perspective through dialogues. This approach to me was closer to Tolstoy that I read. Thank you for uploading it.

For those unfamiliar with post-WWII Italian theater, the legendary stage director Giorgio Strehler (1921-97) was a powerful presence both in spoken theater and opera. The four Strehler productions that I saw "live" are imprinted forever in my mind: Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters, Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio, Shakespeare's The Tempest and Pirandello's The Mountain Giants. While of course I am thankful that there is a visual record of this wonderful production, no video can ever begin to do justice to Strehler's incredible use of light and silhouette. A true magician of the theater!

Domingo IS Otello!

I remember seeing this in my Literature class as a high school freshman back in 2000. I absolutely loved it and was mesmerized by the unique set (which contained water, which I had never seen before) and the great performances. This was back when the teacher would wheel in the TV and put in a VHS tape.

Great performance!~ Too bad Sir Derek Jacobi was not included.

Oddly specific, but this has my favorite portrayals of the gravediggers I love the accents, the gravelly voice and the truly irreverent tone

I think I remember watching this in Highschool. Watched the traditional film of the story then this one for some reason. Don't even know how I got here but nice remembrance haha.

Loved the book - really enjoyed the film. Marcello was wonderful as usual.

I struggled to feel immersed while reading Macbeth, but this exceptional rendition has transformed my experience, making it immensely more enjoyable. The performance adds texture, emotion, and rhythm, bringing the text to life in ways I couldn't with my silent reading. I suppose you can never truly feel the full power of a play without its theatrical elements, either by watching or listening, so I'm happy this beautiful performance exists. I will definitely revisit this audiobook whenever I return to The Scottish Play. Thank you a lot!
